The Region: The Mount Benson Wine Region is a recently defined viticultural area situated 300km South of Adelaide on the Limestone Coast. Its key attributes for producing distinctive quality fruit include an abundance of underground water, terra rossa soil over free-draining limestone and a cool Mediterranean climate. The region is renowed for producing elegant and complex wines typical of vineyards in cooler climates.
Winemaking: The wine was fermented in a carefully selected mix of French oak barrels and aged for 6 months during which time the barrels were labouriously lees stirred by hand.
Aroma: Elegant and fruit-driven, the nose is a mix of melon and lychee with hints of vanilla.
Palate: The palate is a perfect balance between tropical fruit, subtle oak and yeast autolysis characters, complex and generous in flavour.
Alcohol/Volume: 13.5%
Peak drinking: Now - 2008
Serving Suggestion: This wine has enough structure to handle most white meat dishes, salads or vegetarian food.
